Finding a File on a Network



1. Click the Start button, point to Find, and select Files or Folders... from the menu that appears.

2. In the "Look in:" drop-down menu/text box field, enter the name of the computer that contains that file you are searching for. (Enter it in this syntax: \\computername)

3. In the "Named:" text box, enter the name of the file you are trying to locate.

4. In the "Containing text:" text box, enter some words that are in the file you are looking for. (Please note that this field is not required.)

5. Click the Find Now button to begin your search.

6. Once you find your file, you can double-click it from the Results area of the Find Window.
