Boot up with your Windows
Boot Disc.
- At the A:\ prompt type fdisk.
- Choose option 2- delete a Primary Dos Partition
- Choose option 3- Create a Primary Dos Partition
INSTALLING WINDOWS 98
1.
Insert the
Start Disk into the floppy drive
2.
Turn on the monitor and the computer
3.
Allow the system to load DOS
NOTE:
A message like A:\>_ will appear on the bottom left side on the screen.
4.
Partition and format the hard-disk drive using the
Start Disk/boot
disc
NOTE:
DO NOT REMOVE THE START DISK FROM THE FLOPPY DRIVE
5.
Restart the system
(use CTRL+ALT+DELETE or RESET button)
6.
Allow the system to load DOS
7.
Type X:\
(where X indicates CD-ROM
drive, for example D:\) and
press ENTER
TIP: The letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive can be
found after the DOS has been loaded
8.
Type CD
WIN98 and press ENTER
9.
Type SETUP and
press ENTER
10. Wait
few seconds and press ENTER again
NOTE: Scandisk will automatically check the HARD-DISK
drive for any errors.
11. After
Scandisk has checked the drive for any errors, Windows
98 Setup will appear
12. Click
on “CONTINUE”
13. Click
on “NEXT”
14. Select
“TYPICAL” and click on
NEXT
15. Select
“Install the most common components” and click on
NEXT
16. Choose
a name for your computer and click on
NEXT
NOTE: (Leave the Workgroup as is.)
17. Click
on NEXT
18. Click
on NEXT (Wait few seconds)
19. Click
on CANCEL then click on OK
20. Click
on NEXT (This process will
take about 20-30 minutes)
NOTE: You will be prompted to remove any floppy or CD
disks from the drive. Do so.
The computer will reboot.
21. Type
the USER INFORMATION inside
the boxes and click on NEXT
22. Type the
PRODUCT KEY and click on NEXT
23. Click
on FINISH
24. Set
the TIME and DATE correctly, and click on
OK
25. Follow any further on-screen instructions.
